E. Canny Ryall: Operative Cystoscopy. London: Henry Kimpton, 1925. First edition. Heavy folio (32.5 cm) in original publisher's rose polished buckram with titles in gilt. Illustrated in color and black&white.

This copy with a suite of ten original watercolors on six sheets by the book's illustrator, Thornton Shiels, who earns "special thanks" from the  author for having "made nearly all the drawings with the consummate skill that distinguishes him as a cystoscopic artist." Seven of the watercolors bear a penciled note identifying the corresponding plate in the book; two others bear the penciled names and ages of the patients from whom the images were taken.

The definitive work on the subject, profusely if somewhat gruesomely illustrated "with 115 plates containing 670 original illustrations of which 528 are coloured." Binding with some wear and soiling, sunning to the spine, occasional light thumbing to the leaves, else clean and sound, securely bound. Front paste-down with the ownership ink stamp of medical historian J. R. Kirkup.
