First edition thus, limited edition of 1250 signed and numbered copies , this being no. 1098. Two volumes, tall 8vo (22.5 cm), in original publisher's green ribbed cloth decorated in blind and gilt; 279, 272 pp.; with 16 plates.

Limited edition signed by both Arthur Machen and the illustrator Clara Tice. Bindings with modest wear to the edges and bumping to the spine ends, mild toning to the untrimmed edges of the leaves, small red inkspot to the front (blank) endpaper of volume I, otherwise clean and sound, firmly bound.
