First edition, 8vo (19.5 cm), bound by Root & Son in full calf, with George Cruikshank's signature stamped in gilt on the upper cover, spine elaborately tooled in gilt, gilt-lettered morocco spine labels, patterned endpapers, top page edges gilt; [4], xii, 203, [1] pp.; with the half-title page; 6 etched plates and 2 vignettes by Cruikshank (complete). Binding with light rubbing to the extremities, areas of sunning to the front and (less so) rear covers; browning to and from the plates, age-toning to the edges of the text block, else clean and sound, firmly and elegantly bound. Front paste-down with the armorial bookplate of A. Brandon Taylor.
